Job Description
Airswift is working in partnership with a highly successful and global leader within the pulp & paper, and paper products space. Due to recent internal promotions, the company are looking to hire a Vice President of Manufacturing for their integrated pulp and paper mill in Alabama.


This new Vice President of Manufacturing has a unique opportunity to walk into a successful and award-winning mill with a strong secondary leadership already in place. The individual will therefore be tasked with maintaining profitability and enabling a people forward culture.


Primary Job Duties: Maintain facility profitability, whilst driving transformation to challenge the status quo.


Lead others to successfully deliver large capital investment projects at the facility.


Set the tempo of the culture, enabling a people forward mindset throughout the facility, and promoting a collaborative environment. Ensure that discussions and decision-making processes maintain a high level of strategic focus and rigor, to promote accountability throughout the facility and drive optimal outcomes. Partner with people and operational leadership, to foster and lead a people forward organization.


Using KPI’s and optimization tools to make analytical decisions, whilst finding new tools to enable faster and more effective transformation. Steward a culture where teams can grow, challenging individuals to help growth of the team long term.


Actively encourage collaboration and support of other company facilities, taking ownership of communicating lessons learnt and sharing of best practice with these facilities.


Essential Skills & Experience Required: Prior knowledge or experience within an integrated pulp and paper facility At least 8-10 years of prior operational leadership experience Servant leader, who can lead through culture and help the team to be successful. Flexibility to integrate into the company culture Prior experience leading others through large capital investment projects.


Strong P&L understanding, with the will and ability to dig into details and inefficiencies, utilizing knowledge and understanding of this type of operation. Understanding of Human Organization Performance (HOP), and its application in stewarding safety and creating a path to zero incidents. Strong and open communication skills, with ability to utilize effective methods of conflict resolution. Strategic thinker, who can make decisions based on companywide goals, above facility first mindset.


Ability to travel periodically Desirable Skills and Experience: Prior experience with bleached board manufacturing


Bachelor’s Degree in engineering


Understanding of complex P&L, specifically involving complex chemicals used with pulp and bleached board making process.
