Full Time Veterinary Assistant
We are an AAHA accredited, small animal practice looking for someone motivated and dependable to join our team. We use Fear Free practices and are looking for someone with a similar mindset who will embrace our practice culture. Candidates with a strong basic skill set and an understanding of the operations of a companion animal practice are ideal. We focus on providing our staff with work/life balance and a positive environment that allows for both personal development and team collaboration. Experience in veterinary healthcare is preferred and pay scale will be determined by the skill set and knowledge base of the applicant.
We are open both weekdays and weekends, (every other including Sunday) so we are looking for candidates that have an flexible schedule and are willing to work weekends. Our ideal candidate should have excellent phone and person-to-person etiquette and self-presentation, a positive personality, and be able to effectively communicate with clients and other staff members. We are looking for someone that is dependable, punctual, organized, and highly trainable, motivated and interested in developing their professional skill set.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Data entry (basic computer skills, familiarity with Google apps and Microsoft programs and current technologies)
• Canine and feline handling
• Basic patient care
• Housekeeping duties
• Restocking and organization
• Lab sample collection
• IV catheter placement
• Administering medications
• Surgical patient preparation
• Taking x-ray images
• Maintaining instruments and equipment
• Keeping strict cleanliness and sanitation of hospital grounds
• Must be able to lift 45 lb. independently
• Must have reliable transportation
