Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: This position serves as Valve Tech on assigned shift. Assembles and tests refurbished and new parts. Assist with all support and maintenance activities in the shop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Level I Valve Tech

  • Pressure wash and media blast disassembled parts.
  • Ability to learn all required documentation required in the work order packet and ensure that all previous steps were completed prior to any work being completed by the employee
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Abide by all Oil States Energy Services LLC. Safety and Operational Policy and Procedures.
  • Ability to understand the companies work order flow and routings and follow routing throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that the task assigned are being completed in the correct order.
  • Ability to properly read and understand blue prints for assemblies
  • Use forklift, overhead crane, pneumatic, and hand tools to assemble and disassembly of new and refurbished equipment.
  • Perform hydrostatic test to validate assembled equipment
  • Prepare parts for paint, masking off all none painted surfaces

Level II Valve Tech

  • Perform basic trouble shooting during hydrostatic testing to failed parts and repair to ensure a passing hydrostatic test
  • Be proficient in all Level I tasks
  • Record all required information in paint logs and ensure accuracy of information being recorded
  • Ability to understand and perform valve blue printing during assembly
  • Collect and record measurements of required parts using provided measuring equipment which include calipers and micrometers
  • Participate in monthly inventory counting and ensure accuracy of items being counted and recorded
  • Prepare and paint completed parts
  • Ability to read and understand bill of material in work order packet and gather all required items prior to assembly

Level III Valve Tech

  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis as required by Quality protocol
  • Train and mentor other Techs
  • Ability to calibrate hydrostatic test bay prior to testing operation as required by the company
  • Basic knowledge in current Business Management Systems and help in entering employee job time as needed
  • Be proficient in all Level I and Level II tasks
  • Assist in other departments as needed
  • Provide direction to techs in absence of Valve Tech Lead
  • Assist in conducting on-the-job training of Valve Shop employees

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to work well individually, in teams and or in groups.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to rapidly adapt to changes and demands based upon workflow.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays and on call as needed.
  • Must have basic problem solving skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must successfully pass pre- and post- employment drug and alcohol test per company policy.
  • Must possess a general working knowledge of hand, power, and pneumatic tools.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Level I Valve Tech

  • One (1) to two (2) years’ experience, preferably in the oil & natural gas industry; oil & gas exploration or similar industry knowledge helpful.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Level II Valve Tech

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (3) to five (5) years’ experience as a Valve Tech or similar assembly position, preferably in the oil & natural gas industry; oil & gas exploration or similar industry knowledge

Level III Valve Tech

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five (5) plus years’ experience as a Valve Tech in the oil & natural gas industry or oil & gas exploration

CERTIFICATION & LICENSES

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Exposure to loud noise including both high and low decibels, vibration & bright lights.
    • Extensive bending, lifting, climbing, sitting, pushing up to 50 pounds, pulling up to 100 pounds, and standing for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to work in an environment of varying climates including warm, hot and cold temperatures
    • Exposure to shop contaminates such as oils, chemical cleaners and paint dust.
    • Must be able to work in an environment where safety glasses, steel toe boots and ear plugs are required to be worn at all times when in the shop environment ; may need to wear ear plugs as needed when working in other shops where high decibels are present.
    • Must be physically capable of working in awkward positions for prolonged periods.
    • Must be able to frequently lift and move 49lbs or less unassisted. Anything 50lbs or more requires mechanical assistance or a team lift.
    • Must be able to work confined spaces.
    • Accident hazard can involve severe cuts and bruises.
