Principal Engineer, Injection Molding
LOCATION

About The Role
We are looking for a talented and driven engineering technician that has a strong understanding of engineering principals with a history of manual measurement/ metrology, dexterity, and data transformation tools.
Responsibilities:
  • Must have a basic understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Create, perform, and document test and measurement protocols, reports, etc.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, and written descriptions
  • Support development of metrology fixturing, programming, and validation.
  • Must work well both independently and on a team, effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with a cross-functional team.
  • Visual and manual dimensional inspection of injection molded parts.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to new and/or improved workshop standards, protocols, and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic workshop etiquette and shop safety, and provide verbal and written communication across multiple departments.
  • Keep the lab space organized and equipped with supplies.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills required, hands-on problem-solving.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience following and enforcing safety protocol, using proper PPE, and abiding by OSHA standards.
  • Able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Solidworks (or other CAD) and statistical software (MiniTab, JMP, etc).
  • Associate Degree, trade school, military technical training, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Maintain a clean and professional workspace.
  • Proficiency with mechanical fabrication tools such as drill presses, saws, mills, hand tools, Power tools, etc.
  • Experience with injection molding processing, process validation and/or metrology/cosmetic inspection is highly preferred.
  • Experience operating and/or programming optical measuring (OMM) or coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or similar, experience performing Gage R&R a plus.
  • Experience drafting and editing manufacturing documentation (WI, MPI, Protocols, etc).
  • 5+ years as an Engineering Technician or hands-on mechanical, or similar experience.
  • Technical desire and aptitude to learn new products and ability to learn quickly and adapt to a variety of technologies.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, height/pin/feeler gauges, etc. for inspection and measurement.
  • Works a flexible schedule as required for executing the projects.

POSITION | EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
  • Full-time (contract) position.
  • Days and hours of work may be variable depending on business need.
  • Occasional evening work may be required as job responsibilities demand.
Physical Requirements
  • Travel to vendors, conferences, company meetings, and other events may be required.
  • Indoor position that requires sitting at computer for an extended period.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise and light as typical in a manufacturing environment.
