Job Description
We’re looking for someone who truly understands the UO brand and is highly passionate about moving it forward. This requires creative problem solving, agility, professionalism, and an exceptionally community centric mindset. You will report to and work closely with Julie Verdugo the Director of Sustainability + Social Impact to help support key UO priorities in Sustainability and Social Impact to reduce our footprint and increase our community’s greater impact. You’re highly passionate about bringing communities together to drive change, have experience bringing impact focused ideas to life and experience managing external partnerships. You ideally have academic and/or working experience with nonprofits, B-corps, mission driven organizations and experience in environmental sustainability, but it’s not a requirement.
As the Sustainability + Social Impact Associate Manager/Manager your main responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the relationship with our nonprofit and impact partners, including: Active Minds, The Phluid Project, Creatives Want Change, GLSEN, Housing Works, Philly Furniture Bank, Blackstar Film Festival, Fabscrap, etc. You’ll partner closely with these organizations to create actionable impact, including: mentorship + volunteering opportunities, internal community trainings, external advocacy campaigns, product donation opportunities, etc.
  • Collaborating actively with the URBN CSR Working Group to help us work towards greater URBN sustainability + impact goals (potential themes: packaging, raw material selection, waste reduction, recycling programs). You will also have a hand in contributing to our Impact Report through impact reporting and impact communication + storytelling.
  • Managing impact focused communication and campaigns across our internal and external channels: on our UO In progress page, throughout our site, in email, on our social media channels, in our stores, and internally within our community via newsletters and trainings, collaborating closely across teams to bring our impact to life.
  • Managing the process of classifying and identifying sustainable product across categories, closely collaborating with CSR and product teams to make sure our standards are clearly understood and rolled out accurately across our site, and eventually in store.
  • Leading our internal UO Community Committee to help guide the group to set community wide goals and positively drive impact together (across key areas: learn, donate, volunteer, connect)
