Position Overview
We are an imaginative preschool-grade 12 coeducational institution located on Manhattan's Upper West Side, is excited to announce openings for in-person and remote academic programs for the 2023 - 2024 school year. We invite applications from enthusiastic, experienced Science Teachers, focusing on Biology and Chemistry, to join our team in September 2023.
Responsibilities
Cultivate a nurturing environment that empowers students to embrace the mindset of a scientist.
Craft, devise, and deliver lessons that are student-centered, hands-on, engaging, and inquiry-driven.
Foster clear, effective communication with students, parents, and fellow educators.
Assess student work efficiently, providing consistent feedback to both students and parents.
Formulate and uphold classroom, laboratory, and field trip guidelines, ensuring all students comprehend expectations.
Foster a safe, inquisitive space where students feel encouraged to pose questions.
Demonstrate unwavering commitment to diversity and contribute to a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging, in line with Dwight's values.
Undertake an online anti-bias training program within the initial year of employment.
Participate in at least one after-school activity for two of three trimesters annually.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Science Education, or related field is mandatory.
Master’s Degree in Science, Science Education, or related field is highly recommended.
Experience teaching High School Biology with a willingness to handle High School Chemistry is preferred.
A minimum of three years' prior teaching experience in a High School setting is desirable.
Proven track record of effective instruction for diverse learners.
Proficiency in conducting inquiry-based learning within Science instruction.
Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is advantageous.
Proclivity for teaching a spectrum of learners.
Eagerness to contribute positively to the Dwight community.
Openness to engage with and learn from individuals with varied backgrounds.
Ability to infuse the school environment with positivity, kindness, maturity, and adaptability.
