Posting Summary


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a University Enrollment Services Technician ( EST ). The University Enrollment Services Technician ( EST ), under the direction of the University Enrollment Services Assistant Director, will have an integral role on the University Enrollment Services processing team.


Among the key duties of this position are the following:


  • May act as group leader.
  • Assists in all aspects of enrollment services from the prospective applicant stage to enrolled students. Researches and resolves diversified problems and provides responses to questions about applicant’s applications, student registrations, transcript requests, academic records, financial aid recipients and changes.
  • Under administrative direction, performs clerical operations for enrollment services activities of Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar.
  • Prepares, tracks, and finalizes financial aid documents.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to others.
  • Processes and/or verifies some applicant’s admissions applications, student registrations, transcript requests, academic records, and changes.
  • Accesses information from a variety of sources residing on the university’s administrative mainframe computer.
  • Composes draft correspondence and participates in general mailings, satellite operations, and general clerical work.

Minimum Education and Experience


  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats and working knowledge and the ability to use basic spreadsheet, word-processing, database software, and/or email.
  • Must have effective client service skills.
  • Two years of student services, student accounting or similar experience may be substituted.
  • Experience must include two years financial aid and/or registration experience.
  • Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent plus four years or any equivalent combination of: clerical or secretarial experience, advanced secretarial or business training, or college level study.
  • Requires the ability to group lead.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
  • Two or more years of experience in admissions processing or student financial aid or registrar with knowledge of Financial Aid Management System ( FAMS ), Student Records Database ( SRDB ) or New Jersey Applicant Services ( NJAS ), NSLDS , Federal and State systems and ImageNow.
