The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the unit; coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor.

- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Answers the phone, processing and routine incoming calls, coordinating communications within the department and interdepartmentally and with the physician’s offices.
- Process the scheduling requests for all surgeries, invasive and non-invasive procedures to meet the physicians’ needs and to ensure smooth flow, efficient progression of scheduled cases.
- Continually audits the daily schedule and informational comments to
- Maintains adequate time allotments for each procedure scheduled. Updates as needed
- Coordinates the scheduling of procedures with other hospital departments such as lab for frozen sections and x-ray for needle localization, etc.
- Notifies department Director or designee when a surgeon request “special” equipment or supplies
- Communicates all changes in the schedule to all involved physicians, OR personnel, and other ancillary hospital departments as appropriate
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with physicians and their office personnel, OPS and OR personnel, and other ancillary personnel
- Notifies department Director of any schedule changes. If schedule is already distributed, notifies appropriate department and personnel
- Maintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes to Supervisor(s).
- Consults with direct supervisor(s) regarding scheduling of the surgical patient.
- Assists patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel with directions, questions and any help needed
- Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
- Exhibit professional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Has knowledge of and understands current JCAHO Standards for the clinical aspect of the department.
- Upholds professional standards of performance and conduct
- Promotes teamwork with physicians and all health care providers.
- Assists in departmental, hospital and community in-services/education when assigned.
- Activity participates in assigned meetings.
- Assists the staff and functions of the unit, when required.
- Assists with orientation of new staff as needed

Minimum qualifications:
- Graduate from high school
