Job Description
General Statement of Duties

  • Games are played on occasional week nights and/or Saturday and Sunday mornings or early afternoon.
  • There will be one umpire per game for the Town's girl's fast pitch softball league.
  • The umpire is responsible for calling balls, strikes, the bases and the rules outlined for the league.
  • Umpires are responsible for completing accident/incident reports as needed, and notifying the Recreation Supervisor.
  • The umpire oversees all aspects of the game.
  • Pre-season training material is provided and will be reviewed prior to the start of the season.



Season: 3 months, from April until June. Must be available for pre-season training in early April.


Hours: Approximately 4 - 10 hours per week. Umpires are paid 2.5 hours for each game worked (Time limit is 2.5 hours per game). Games are played occasional weeknights and/or weekends.

This is a seasonal position. Returning seasonal employees have priority for open positions.

Qualifications

Must have experience umpiring fast pitch softball or playing fast pitch softball at a competitive level. National Umpires Association certification is preferred.
