Now hiring Softball Umpires!

The Tualatin Hills Athletic Center is looking for Umpires to officiate the spring/summer and fall Adult Slow Pitch Softball Leagues. The adult softball umpires are responsible for officiating adult slow-pitch softball league games following Amateur Softball Association (ASA) rules. A current ASA, USA, or WBSC softball certification is preferred but not required. If you are compassionate, outgoing and inclusive, and flexible enough to adapt to shifting challenges, we look forward to meeting you!

Job details
The softball umpire is responsible for following and implementing THPRD league rules to ensure that good sportsmanship is demonstrated at all times. Our team is seeking people with the ability to support the needs of individuals, as well as provide a safe, caring environment. The referee/umpire works directly with the program coordinator, providing necessary support as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must successfully complete district safety training before beginning duties
  • Two years of experience in the specialty area
  • Appropriate certifications, if applicable
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications recommended

Estimated start date: April 2023
Estimated schedule: Umpires are typically scheduled on weeknights between 5:30 pm and 10:30 pm and on weekends between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Flexible schedules are available.
Closing Date: 8/31/2023
Additional information about this role:
  • This job is primarily performed outside, including in excessive temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Incumbent is typically exposed to noises and interruptions, such as bouncing balls, sudden loud noises, multiple voices, and yelling in a crowded environment.
  • Physical exertion may be lifting sporting equipment weighing less than 40 pounds.
  • Requires standing and walking for long periods of time
Part-time employees are scheduled variable hours and may work less than 1,560 hours per year.
