Position: Truck and Trailer Repair Mechanic

Forward Air is looking for a self-motivated individual to join the maintenance team as a full-time Truck and Trailer Repair Mechanic. Duties include maintaining all aspects of vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment of Forward Air. This individual will be expected to do this while adhering to the compliance of all FA Policies, safe work practices, and maintaining high customer service.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

• Other duties as assigned
• Perform minor building and facility maintenance
• Maintain equipment according to DOT regulations
• Perform data entry in Maintenance Software to track repairs
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance
• Perform minor cosmetic repairs
• Perform minor trailer repairs
• Maintain work area, tools, and equipment
• Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools
• Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, and trailers
• Conduct various analysis and inspections of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacement
• Keep shop and company tools clean and in good working order
• Perform tire mounting/dismounting and repairs

Qualifications:

• Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company
• Prior experience with truck, trailer, and/or vehicle repair
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required)
• Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment
• Must have basic set of tools
• Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
• Strong mechanical aptitude

Skills:

• The ideal candidate will possess a “can do" attitude with a “will do" work ethic
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
