Position Description:

Capital Blue Cross has an exciting opportunity for a Treasury Analyst to join our award-winning organization. This position plays a key role in supporting Treasury leadership to understand and execute on Company Finance objectives; in conjunction with Capital’s investment advisor is responsible for monitoring the Company’s investment portfolios- compliance with investment policies- cash and liquidity management- and managing the company’s short and long-term investments. Expected to work cross-functionally with Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Tax on capital markets, payments, and debt.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts and projections
  • Cross train with other financial staff on their responsibilities
  • Work with investment advisor on asset allocation
  • Keeps abreast of investment market developments to ensure that selected investment instruments safeguard the assets of Capital
  • Implement treasury processes & reporting improvements
  • Work closely with cross-functional groups such as Accounting, Accounts Payable, Tax, and Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Maintain treasury process documentation
  • Work with Capital’s investment managers and outside investment advisor to recommend to Treasury leadership- investment vehicles consistent with Capital’s investment policies
  • Provide analytical support to management and stakeholders on an as needed basis
  • Investment of excess cash and purchases of financial instruments consistent with Capital’s investment policy
  • Monitor investment Managers performance
  • Under the oversight of Treasury leadership- oversee a $1 billion dollar investment portfolio including adherence to Capital’s Investment Policies and Subsidiary Company Investment Guidelines
  • Cross train other financial staff on responsibilities so other staff can perform responsibilities

Experience:

  • 3 years Microsoft MS office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • 3 years of relevant Treasury operational experience

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Other relevant designations preferred: CFA, CTP

Skills:

  • Strong planning skills
  • Collaboration - must be effective in working with all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and assist with driving projects to completion
  • Strategic thinker and able to effectively articulate issues- solutions & decisions
  • Ability to build productive relationships
  • Self-starter with the ability to streamline functions

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, financial instruments, and risk management principle

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of the job- the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see.

Travel Requirements:

  • 5% of time - primarily to relevant conferences and meetings
