Job Description
In a career as Youth Care Worker, you play a big part in making a difference in changing a youth's life. Youth come to the Boys Town Intervention and Assessment Center for a variety of reasons, such as: family or school issues, abuse, neglect, abandonment, or involvement in the juvenile justice system. You come in by teaching them appropriate social, academic and independent living skills. A Youth Care Worker is part of giving youth a second chance is exposing them to new opportunities. We strive to give Boys Town Kids the fulfilling lives they deserve.
The Intervention and Assessment Program is open 24/7, 365 days per year. This position would require working rotating holidays and weekends. We have full time openings for all shifts, including mornings (6:30am-2:30pm), evenings (2pm-10p, and overnights (9:15pm-7:15am).
Hiring Bonus of $3,000
Salary: $17.00 to $19.00 hourly
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitors, supports, and encourages academic performance and educational success.
  • Uses the Boys Town Model to teach and monitor behaviors and skills in accordance with individualized service plans.
  • Models appropriate relationships with youth and staff.
  • Attends consultation meetings, staff meetings, and shift transition meetings and assists in processing paperwork.
  • Serve as a role model for ethical behavior and promote awareness and moral principles of the Mission, Vision, & Values of Boys Town.
  • Assesses and monitors youth activities, skills, and progress to determine development needs and priorities.
  • Monitors activities and maintains a safe living and learning environment for youths.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 21 years of age required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficient, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements (including stressful situations – physically, mentally, and emotionally) encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, youth, or families. Must have sufficient ability to see, hear, speak, and mobility to monitor youth, assist and perform daily household chores, and participate in activities with youth. Subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally and inside conditions frequently. Includes constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and the potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
