Job Description
Summary About the Position: Serves as Transportation Assistant with the responsibility to assist assigned and supported units in the preparation, maintenance and execution of unit movements. This position is assigned to the Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Sill, OK. Responsibilities Serve as functional manager for the Transportation Coordinators? Automated Information for Movement System. Evaluate, validate, and approve mobilization/deployment movement plans of supported units for regulatory conformance. Research a variety of logistical regulations to perform movement plans evaluations. Provide support to FORSCOM and the Transportation Operating Agencies (TAO) for data acquisition and planning unit moves and ensure documentation is accurately reviewed and edited. Calculate commercial transportation requirements for both active and reserve component units and edit data prior to submission. Ensure that security requirements of the movement of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other sensitive cargo complies with established guidelines. Provide technical guidance, directives, and assistance to units in formulating movement/deployment plans and vehicle load plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Computer Skills Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Due to COVID-19, the agency is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement within a designated time frame identified by the organization.
