Job Description

Columbia Basin LLC, located in Pasco, Washington is looking for a dynamic, full time, Transport-

Driver to join their team. We are looking for a safety conscience driver to join our team.

Previous driving experience would be a huge plus! The Transport - Driver is responsible for the

safe operation of their vehicle. The individual will work Monday throughFriday, Dayshift. The

job functions and duties of the position include the following:

Driver Tasks:

  • Report to work as scheduled and wear a clean employee uniform
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Punch in on time
  • Complete a pre-trip inspection
  • Remove Key from the key box
  • Obtain any special waste paperwork (as applicable)
  • Verify trailer is properly tarped
  • Scale out when leaving the yard to verify legal weights
  • Hook up to a full trailer, grabbing any applicable paperwork
  • Air up the trailer brakes
  • Travel to Finley Buttes safely
  • Scale in at the landfill
  • Communicate to the scale house; Truck # and Trailer #
  • Un-tarp the trailer
  • Special Waste Approval number (if applicable)
  • Drive up to the tipper
  • Unhook the airlines and trailer
  • Verify the load is not getting hung up
  • Back the trailer onto the tipper
  • Tie the first two and the last two straps together, once undone
  • Scale out at the landfill
  • Re-hook up the trailer
  • Drive down from the tipper
  • Re-tarp the trailer
  • Communicate to the scale house
  • Re-hook to a full trailer if going back and repeat starting with step 5 (bullet 5 above)
  • Receive ticket and verify information
  • Travel back to the yard
  • Unhook empty trailer in the trailer staging area of the yard
  • Refuel truck at fuel island
  • Park the truck in the designated spot
  • Wash off truck or run it through the wash bay
  • Clean out garbage from the cab
  • Complete a post trip inspection and DVIR
  • Plug in the block heater (when needed)
  • Turn in all dump slips from the day
  • Remove keys from ignition
  • Turn in the DVIR for the day
  • Return key to the key box
  • Communicate any issues with the trucks or trailers directly to the manager
  • Punch out

Our Customers - Be courteous with all customers, both internal and external

  • Basin Disposal, Ed’s disposal garbage, and recycling customers.
  • Residential and Commercial outside customers
  • Landfill

Our Safety - Make safety a priority at all times

  • Adhere to the safety manuals for the operation and the equipment operation.
  • Offer input in the development, updating, and documentation of all safety procedures for all operations and equipment.
  • Staff is trained in their group on the proper safety procedures for both the operation and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance by all internal and external customers.

Standards: (documented operating work policies, procedures, guides and expectations.)

  • Safety Truck Driver Handbook

  • Rest at appropriate times; two 15-minute breaks
  • Drivers will take 30 minutes per shift for lunch

  • Hazard Response Procedure
  • Subject to work holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with arms and hands at or above shoulders, kneel and stretch, and the ability to climb into or exit a truck and/or other equipment.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive grasping and reaching.
  • The noise level is moderate to loud.
  • The position involves work outdoors on a year-round basis and is subject to extreme weather conditions.
  • Typically performed in the field, which requires travel daily from site to site
  • May be exposed to waste, including blood-borne pathogens, insects, animals and other exterior hazards.
  • Lift, push, carry and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis, and up to 90 lbs. as needed using proper lifting techniques.
