Description Of Duties/Essential Functions


The Training Administrator position will provide guidance and support for the training initiatives within the Transportation & Drainage Operations Service Line.


  • Maintains registration/attendance records and statistical data measuring program effectiveness.
  • Oversees TDO’s New Employee Orientation Program and communication, in partnership with TDO team members.
  • Coordinates with employees and managers on various training and development needs, including assessment of job classification development requirements, classroom facilitation, and coordination of organization-wide training, as assigned.
  • Facilitates, organizes and implements specific employee development programs and training activities, to include, but not limited to, supervisor education and operational performance related programs.
  • Confers with management, supervisory personnel and employees to assess training needs and develops plans, procedures and/or programs to address these needs.
  • Manages employee registration for in-house and outside vendor training workshops and sessions. Confirms attendance.
Develops and organizes curriculum, training manuals, reference libraries, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other instructional training materials.


WORKING CONDITIONS


There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.


This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.


Minimum Requirements


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


Requires a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Personnel Management or a related field.


Minimum Experience Requirements


Four years of professional personnel experience involving training in a formal classroom setting and/or the development of curriculum and lesson plans for adult learners are required.


Pertinent training experience at the professional level may be substituted for the above educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferences Will Be Given To Applicants With


Self starter with strong organization skills with the ability to oversee multiple learning programs at once


Effective problem solving, presentation and coaching skills


Intermediate Excel skills to build training reports


  • Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
