Traffic Signal Technician Jobs

The County of Riverside’s Transportation Land Management Agency - Transportation Department seeks a Traffic Signal Technician to join the Highway Operations Division in Riverside.

The incumbent will perform a variety of traffic signal maintenance and electrical work by identifying/troubleshooting, correcting, maintaining and repairing traffic signal systems and highway lighting. This responsibility includes servicing and/or repairing and installing controllers and other components; test and replace lamps, paint and repair signal and lighting hardware, check and repair intersection lighting, perform shop overhaul of controller units and perform a variety of electrical repairs.

Incumbents may assist in the training of subordinates, perform plan check reviews, produce and maintain daily records related to installation and service work performed and may require working with a work crew or independently.

Competitive candidates will have extensive field experience performing traffic signal systems maintenance; hold IMSA Certifications: Traffic Signal Technician or Traffic Signal Field Technician or Traffic Signal Senior Field Technician and/or Electronics in Traffic Signal Technician. Computer savvy candidates and those with Electrician experience are encouraged to apply.

This position will be a 4/10 work schedule with overtime on nights and weekends, as needed, with On Call responsibilities approximately every 10 weeks and will operate out of the Riverside Transportation Department yard.

The Traffic Signal Technician is the journey level classification in the Traffic Signal Technician series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. The Traffic Signal Technician is distinguished from the Senior Traffic Signal Technician classification in that the latter is the advanced journey level performing assignments of above average difficulty and may act as a project lead.
