Job Description
Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals. The subject matter expertise is needed for US History I, US History II, and US Government.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
  • Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.
  • Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
  • Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
  • Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.
  • Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.

Work Experience


  • Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in US History and US Government.


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
  • Strong mental acuity.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
