Part Time Sophia Grader - English Division (20 Hours)

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric for English writing courses. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.
• Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
• Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
• Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
• Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
• Accurately read and measure student performance based against a grading rubric.

• Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Exhibits sound judgment in making decisions.
• Subject matter competency in English composition.
• Prioritization and time management skills.
• Ability to keep accurate records.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Work Experience

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in English composition preferred.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
