Our Perfect Candidate:*
Faith Therapy Consulting, LLC (FTC) is not just looking to hire a Therapeutic Behavior Support Staff that is looking for a job, FTC is looking for someone that is looking to fulfill their calling and passion.

FTC is looking for a Therapeutic Behavior Support Staff (TBSS) with a minimum 2 years of experience; supporting and implementing learners care plan created by Board Certified Behavior Analyst, within the school/community/afterschool programs.

The TBSS is a challenging and rewarding position which requires a special type of dedicated person. The TBSS should possess:

  • Compassion/Empathy: Working with people on the autism spectrum requires the ability to remain neutral in the face of what can be emotionally charged circumstances. However, it is also important to be able to balance that neutrality with care for the individuals involved in the behavioral therapy being applied. Without the ability to understand the challenges and frustrations the learners face, it is difficult to teach and guide their progress in a warm, compassionate, as well as professional, manner. The human touch can make all the difference in whether a learner improves their quality of life.
  • Patience and Ability to Listen: The TBSS must be able to maintain a two-way relationship with their learner. That means being able to listen and observe patiently to understand the learner’s needs and their response to different parts of the therapy. An experienced TBSS must be able to allow the learner and their family to move at their own pace and be able to adjust the therapy accordingly based on what they observe and record. It requires the ability to fully involve oneself in the activity at hand, as well as be highly detail-oriented and watchful in order to notice subtle nuances in the situation.
  • Adaptability: No matter how carefully and professionally designed a treatment program might be, human beings are always unpredictable. The most detailed plans can go to waste in a moment with no warning whatsoever. A skilled TBSS must be able to recognize changes in the learner’s behavioral response quickly and have the ability to adjust accordingly. An experienced TBSS must be able to adapt to different environments, learners behaviors, and other dynamics in order to best serve client needs.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Our multidisciplinary approach and Applied Behavioral Technology may be a science, but it is, as its name states, applied to human beings. Learner behavior can be challenging, as can family relationships, the therapeutic environment, and many other factors. Caregivers may be stressed, overwhelmed, or frustrated. Learners may throw tantrums or otherwise act out, and a TBSS must be able to remain calm and objective under even the most trying circumstances.
  • Dedication and Perseverance: Having the willingness to learn, and a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and problem solving are necessary to be an engaging TBSS. This position requires a strong commitment to improving the lives of children and their families, regardless of what obstacles may arise.
  • Emotionally Mature: Having the ability to remain calm while navigating challenging situations is crucial. Emotional maturity and intelligence allows the TBSS to “keep their cool” and successfully guide the learner in accomplishing their goals. Each learner has their good and not so good days, so it is important to be patient and avoid becoming visibly frustrated. Progress comes with time. Emotionally maturity is exhibited by:
  • Taking ownership & responsibility
  • Showing personal confidence
  • Being flexible & approachable
  • Listening to constructive criticism
  • Being open to opportunities for growth
  • Having a calm demeanor
  • Lighthearted, yet confident approach and deliver
  • Energetic: A major goal of the TBSS is to make programs as motivating and “fun” as possible. This requires energy and enthusiasm! We want each learner to view their TBSS as a leader and a guide to success.
  • Critical Thinker & A Team Player: Each learner has a unique personality, history, and challenges. The RBT should use their critical thinking skills to design and continuously modify an appropriate course of treatment for the evolving needs of each learner. The RBT works as part of a team to make important decisions and build a roadmap for each learner to ensure they are receiving the best care possible.
  • Open to Feedback & Growth: RBTs learn and grow from mentorship and by modeling. The Therapeutic Behavior “Learning” Program (TBLP) leadership team is committed to providing and receiving feedback from each team member, so that we all have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Open communication between TBLP team members and the families that we work with maintains a sense of respect, responsibility and ownership.
