Job Description
Summit is looking to hire in-home, one-on-one, test prep tutors to service Fairfield County (Stamford - New Canaan - Bridgeport - Danbury)

Overview

Founded in 1988, our team of experts has calmly, caringly, and expertly guided thousands of families through the process of preparing their students to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Today, Summit Education Group is part of Stravos Education, a newly-formed, mission-driven company, representing a range of successful legacy brands in the education space. Our family of brands includes Applerouth Education (), ESM Prep (), UES (), and Launch Precollege Labs (). Together, Summit and these brands provide a full suite of services including academic tutoring, college counseling, executive function coaching, and test preparation to students across the world.

New tutors go through paid training to provide them with extensive knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, as well as pedagogical strategies to help tutor different types of students. We also provide regular supplemental training to help tutors stay aware of changes to both tests and pedagogy.

The Opportunity

  • This tutoring position is part-time, and you set your hours and caseload. Tutors can work with as few as 3 students or as many as your schedule allows each week.
  • The role of Tutor is dynamic, fun, and rewarding.
  • This part-time opportunity is perfect for those who love connecting with young adults, are passionate about education, and find true enjoyment in helping others accomplish their goals.
  • We provide the marketing, billing, industry updates, and course materials, paid training, and support, so you can focus on what’s important and enjoyable: helping students succeed!

Your Skill Set:

As a candidate for the role of Tutor, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
  • Experience teaching or tutoring students with Learning Differences is a plus.
  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel 30 minutes to students’ homes.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Additional compensation is provided when traveling farther.
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is welcomed, but not required.
  • We offer comprehensive paid SAT/ACT training to all new tutors.
  • Responsible and responsive work ethic, allowing flexibility for student schedule changes.
  • A student-centered disposition that prioritizes the learning needs of the young people we serve.

Benefits

  • Self-determined schedule
  • Referral and employee discount program
  • Travel compensation for students over 30 minutes away
  • Starting rates: in-person $65/hr, online $45/hr
  • Frequent hourly bonus opportunities
  • Annual reviews with raise opportunities
  • Paid training

Diversity and Inclusion:

We believe that diversity and inclusion enrich education and drive success. We are committed to ensuring that all people who interact with Summit--parents, students, staff, contractors, partners, vendors--are respected and valued holistically. We are committed to attracting and retaining students and staff from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences because we believe that diversity fuels innovation and education to new heights.

The Legal Stuff:

Applicants will be considered for the position on the basis of their qualifications and ability to perform the job for which they are applying. Summit does not discriminate based on the basis of race, color, genetics, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or status as a special disabled or other veteran covered by the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Act of 1974, as amended.
