Job Description

The engineers that create this service require world-class environments and access to thousands of devices to perfect the Netflix experience.
As a Lab Technician, you will be hands-on from day one, supporting our internal partners in being the first responder for device fulfillment requests and collecting data on devices for our asset management system. You will also support our external partners with the delivery of our very own Netflix hardware that enables testing. You will gain practical working experience with streaming media devices, asset management software, device procurement and so much more. There is ample opportunity to become more technical as well and it’s something that we encourage and foster through growth at Netflix.
What you will do
  • Assembly of hardware electronic test appliances.
  • Build and maintain custom test lab hardware to meet requested specifications and special projects for engineering workspaces.
  • Respond to incoming device requests that range from managing the logistics of an international shipment to retrieving and delivering devices from our warehouse inventory to an engineer.
  • Refinement of the inventory life-cycle, defining criteria on device lifecycle.
  • Configure and prepare devices for certification or demonstration
  • Procure test devices for teams across Netflix streaming and games.
  • Device management and organization of over 10,000 devices throughout the Netflix campus and our warehouse.
  • Lead projects that use ad-hoc labor for device moves or lab space changes.
What you need to have
  • Organizational mindset - creating order from chaos for managing our inventory.
  • Highly value your stakeholders and have a customer service mindset.
  • Comfortable driving a large van and safely securing devices to prevent damage.
  • Customer service experience working directly with internal and external customers.
  • A problem solving-attitude that can work with minimal guidance and oversight.
  • Basic network/audio & video troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Bonus: Experience working in data centers or high availability environments.
  • Experience with inventory planning and logistics.
  • Able to work through ambiguity and make informed decisions with the information at hand, even if it isn't the whole picture, a problem solver / decision maker.
  • Experience using and knowing basic hand tools (channel locks, crescent wrench, Allen wrench/driver, Philips driver, flat head screwdriver, etc.)
  • Critical thinker and problem solver - We want candidates who always think of ways to improve a current process, both short term and long term.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment.
  • Experience and comfort working with networking and audio/video devices.
  • Confidence in configuring electronics - Smart TVs and Set Top Boxes.
  • Experience doing data entry and using website tools to complete tasks.
