Job Description
Technical Program & Release Manager
Hybrid work arrangement - will be required to work some in-office at our Englewood, CO location and remote.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead programs spanning cloud solutions, infrastructure, and security, and applications to ensure that our systems and services are secure, scale, and are responsive to meet diverse customer requirements in a fast-paced and regulated industry. This role will require working closely with cloud, infrastructure, security, and application leadership to help drive and manage programs through their life cycles and ensure overall goals and timelines are met.
As a Technical Release Manager, you will play a critical role in our software delivery process to organize and coordinate application and system software and hardware releases, as well as plan and schedule deployments. This role facilitates and supervises the release management lifecycle processes across integrated software products, applications, and systems supporting PFS initiatives. Release management initiates, scopes, controls, monitors, and deploys changes throughout the entire software development lifecycle. This role requires multidisciplinary approaches and collaborations with peers, project teams and users.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a variety of business and technical analysts, software development and quality assurance engineers, as well as Infrastructure and DevOps teams on releases.
  • Manage and communicate release updates, metrics, issues, and risks during the release cycles to ensure successful deployments.
  • Conduct regular status meetings, monthly portfolio meetings and quarterly reviews with stakeholders for technical programs and assigned projects.
  • Partner with cloud, infrastructure, and security program leads to define/outline program goals, projects and dependencies.
  • Determine the readiness of each release based on established criteria, quality measurements, production environment readiness, training and support plans, rollout and backout procedures, and risk management contingencies.
  • Build, maintain, and communicate release plans, schedules working closely with the product and project managers from different programs within the ISD portfolio.
  • Cultivate, govern, and support release management processes and procedures with efficient and repeatable mechanisms for deploying changes throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Define, coordinate, and manage multiple aspects of releases ensuring coordinated integration of incremental versions of new/enhanced products, applications, and systems across PFS.
  • Conduct release readiness reviews, and facilitate retrospective release improvement sessions, partnering with scrum masters and other leaders as needed, seeking continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate and organize the continuous and simultaneous cadence of releases through the software development lifecycle.
  • Responsible for the partnered initiation of (cloud, infrastructure, security) programs, from strategy creation to execution to delivery to completion while monitoring and reporting status to program stakeholders and involved parties.
  • Mentor and coach other cloud, infrastructure, security project managers with best practice and standard project management practices.
  • Lead and facilitate the prioritization and cross-team coordination of resources and team delivery focus of work within the overall ISD portfolio roadmap for implementation.
  • As needed, project manage key cross-team work to ensure execution, coordination and implementation of work, managing risks and issues to help remove impediments.
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure products will release on schedule with the highest level of quality possible with smooth, predictable, and timely delivery of software products and system enhancements.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of experience in managing complex projects and strategic initiatives.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Release Manager or software development leader.
  • Deep written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to structure messaging for a wide range of stakeholders and audience.
  • Strong experience communicating complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Technical aptitude and understanding of software applications, infrastructure, cloud, and security aspects and capabilities.
  • Experience with planning, big picture, strategic thinking, and program organization aimed fast delivery.
  • Ability to recognize, measure, and mitigate risks while working with others to make prudent and timely decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to oversee and drive multiple engagements forward.
  • Extensive knowledge of SDLC, change management, problem management and incident management.
  • Availability during off hours as needed.
  • Experience in defining release readiness criteria and risk assessment, ensuring all changes meet criteria prior to deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work at an executive, senior management, or strategic planning level.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, think big-picture and build plans that turn strategies into action.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent leadership and people skills, experience working with various teams, influencing, and getting buy-ins in various situations.
Budgeted salary range: $125,000 - 165,000 annually. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on certain goals and objectives.
