Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY


The Technical Documentation Engineer (DE) manages all aspects of documentation control from generating part numbers for components to finished goods along with managing Engineering Change Request (ECR), Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Engineering Change Notification (ECN). This individual creates, plans, directs and coordinates all activities related to bills of material including accuracy of part numbers and descriptions, quantity and cost.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Works with the engineering team to help format test plans and test reports
  • Ensures the mechanical drawing, electrical files and all other technical files are added to the bill of materials within ERP system
  • Capture documentation, part number and bills of material in ERP system
  • Provides regular status updates on the documentation tasks and ensuring they are on track and escalate when off-track
  • Participating in the preparation and coordination of the project agreement
  • Regular status information of the PM
  • Works under the Product Line Manager as the documentation resource for new military product development
  • Provides communication to the program manager on documentation status of the project and relay relevant information to the design team
  • Process documentation of technical changes
  • Assist with development progress and costs
  • Reviews and verifies project documents for completeness, format, and compliance with contract requirements
  • Supporting successful execution of design reviews
  • Works the Supply Chain Manager to capture and update all requirements and information in the bill of material
  • Works with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on adjusting and improving ERP system
  • Works with the Director of Engineering to create and distribute ECR, ECO and ECN
  • Works with the Director of Business Development to create technical data sheets for new products
  • Works with the Quality Assurance Manager on process improvement and implementation as it relates to documentation control
  • Ensures that all the development documentation is being completed according to schedule
  • Immediately inform the PM about severe incidents related to documentation


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Participation in engineering design review processes
  • Requirements gathering, analysis, tracking, and engineering experience
  • Minimum of Bachelor degree in a technical field with more than 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries.
  • Have an eye for details, love to work with technical documents
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and products required.
  • Preferred experience in Lithium-based battery development
  • Technical knowledge/understanding in the electronics field
  • Responsiveness, agility, and willingness to take responsibility
  • Preferred experience with products requiring MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 and agencyapprovals such as UL, IEC, FCC, CE, TUV
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
