Technical Designer, Tailoring Jobs

Bode is a New York based, luxury brand that expresses a sentimentality for the past through the study of personal narratives and historical techniques. The brand’s founder, Emily Bode, was the first female designer to show at Men’s NYFW with a collection entirely made of one-of-a-kind garments. Today, Bode has a storefront in New York and Los Angeles, and sells to almost 100 retailers across the globe.

Overview

Bode is looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join the team. This role will be specifically for tailored products in all categories for Men's and Women's -- reporting to the Senior Director of the Studio and Technical Design.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

• Prioritize workload based on T&A, seasonal deadlines, and company goals.
• Tracks & manages all fit samples / packages.
• Collaborate daily with cross functional partners to ensure ideal product while maintaining margins.
• Maintain consistent fit and grading based on Bode standards.
• Attend all fittings through development and production.
• Write fit comments for designated product categories.
• Measure and prepare garments for fittings.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience

• Ability to act as a technical resource and mentor others; lead initiatives and project teams.
• Knowledge of draping, pattern making, and garment construction.
• Knowledge of POM and grading across all categories.
• Experience in both mens and womens tailoring categories.
• Bachelor's degree (B.A) from a college or university, major in Design, Technical Design, Patternmaking, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Well seasoned in executing tech packs.
• 5-10+ years of experience in technical design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
