Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Influence
  • Shares and collaborates on sales execution vision and strategic thinking to anticipate future needs and recommend business building ideas that will drive the business toward strategic goals.
  • Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the region’s sales performance against organizational objectives.
  • Maintains and utilizes up-to-date knowledge about the markets served, customers, vendors, and competitors to drive successful operations.
  • Conducts long-term and short-term strategic goal setting for teams and uses data to measure and monitor sales processes, identify issues, develop key partnership initiatives, and category/channel programs to accurately forecast sales volume, revenue, and expenses and enhance overall profit performance.
  • Attends and networks at trade association meetings to promote product and company.
  • Develops/Executes Direct Store Delivery strategies and ensures activation of priorities for driving efficiencies across assigned geographies.
  • Participates in the development of strategies to meet or exceed sales goals and achieve KPIs; is accountable for the successful execution of those strategies.
  • Keeps abreast of competitive activities within the responsible geographies and communicates appropriate activity in a timely manner.
  • Develops relationships with all key decision makers, both internal and external.
People Leadership
  • Participates in daily activities of staff.
  • Manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales and profit goals within the assigned region.
  • Responsible for building, developing, and retaining talent necessary to drive a high-performance sales team, along with ensuring succession planning is in place.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional departments within the organization to deliver mutually beneficial results that support overall company goals
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Analytics and Financial Acumen
  • May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
  • Prepares sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures to manage P&L responsibilities.
  • Ongoing assessment of Sales Managers location business plans including attainment of goals, success of key initiatives, major actions, key support needed, and recommendations to create efficiency and productivity.
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and reviews/analyzes sales data to set performance goals and promote sales.
Position Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s license: a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required for vehicles 26,000 lbs or greater.
  • COVID vaccination
  • 10 years of management or supervisory experience in a sales environment.
  • Acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in related field from four-year university preferred.
  • DOT medical certification
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and handheld point-of-sale computer systems preferred
  • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Knowledge of and ability to gather, interpret and apply multiple consumer/industry insights and trends used in the development of channel strategies and programs.
  • Elevated EQ/Diplomacy to enable navigation of broad system of internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective at delivering data/fact-based, persuasive story telling
  • Knowledge of the coffee service and retail industries (e.g., retailers, competitors, trends, merchandising materials, equipment, general business environment) related to multiple channels of distribution .
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to actively engage, listen, and empathize in order to effectively collaborate with breadth of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of syndicated sources (e.g., AC Nielsen, IRI, etc… ) used in the analysis of trending market, customer, consumer and dollar/volume dynamics.
