Teaching associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The University of Washington Interventional Radiology section covers five sites (the University of Washington Medical Center – Montlake Campus, Harborview Medical Center, Veteran's Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the University of Washington Medical Center - Northwest Campus). It has an affiliate agreement for IR training with Seattle Children's Hospital. This position will collaborate with an inter-professional team, including established APPs and Interventional Radiologists and care teams, to provide high-quality, safe, patient- and family-centered care in a premier institution. The APP will support the outpatient clinic practice which sees many complex, multisystem conditions inclusive of, but not limited to: arterial disease, venous disease, lymphatic disease, oncology, renal failure, transplant, biliary intervention, and urinary intervention. They will join a nurse practitioner in providing longitudinal comprehensive pre and post-procedural care. The successful candidate will act as a departmental contact person responsible for triaging, problem-solving, and ensuring timely service to patients and clinicians.

Aside from simple office-based procedures (suture/drain removal, flushing of catheters, etc.) This position will have no procedural responsibilities/requirements aside from what may be desired by the successful candidate. The APP will also participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities, as well as participate in and support the Department’s education, research, and quality initiatives. Teaching Associates also provides education and mentorship to fellow team members, staff, residents, fellows, nurses, and students. This individual will be well versed in UWMC CPOE/EPIC and follow UWMC Professional Behavior Policy and Procedures. All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
