Job Description

Talent Manager

C-K is seeking a Talent Manager to be responsible for the managing and administrating of the talent needs of our Production and Operations Group. We are looking for someone who can think expansively and creatively, demonstrates initiative and commitment, and has superior organization and multi-tasking skills.


About the role:

The Talent Manager operates under the SAG-AFTRA Union Codes, and interpretation of contract codes by:

· Controlling, approving, and paying costs of all production, post-production, music and talent session costs

· Becoming a systems expert on the Payroll Service talent tools

· Preparing estimates for final costs for all TV, radio, activation, digital and talent reuse jobs

· Maintaining all talent agreements and preparing talent payment authorizations

· Tracking all active spots, ensuring holding fees are authorized/paid on time and keeping team advised of deadlines

· Maintaining records of all commercials, expiration dates, first fixed cycles, holding fees and use both within agency systems and the payroll service system

· Calculating and processing session and residual payments in accordance with the media buy and updating those payments as changes in the buy occur and keeping the team informed of all changes

· Ensuring the talent for all TV and radio spots, as well as activation & digital assets has been verified and approved

· Reporting duties include:

o Creates Talent Session Reports and instructs Session and Cycle Holding Fee Payments

o Interprets Traffic Reports to instruct Network, Cable and Wildspot Talent Usage Payments

o Prepares Completion Reports and instructs Internet/New Media Talent Usage Payments

· Issuing all talent purchase orders, maintaining cost control on all talent jobs, checking/approving all payroll invoices, and closing all talent projects in the Job Management System

· Consulting with Production, Account Mgt and Project Mgt as to specifics required in producing commercials

· Contacting agents for negotiations and renegotiations of non-celebrity contracts

· Keeping agency aware of expirations of Union Codes and their requirements

· Designing, instituting, and implementing processes and documentation for more expeditious ways to obtain information and smoother operations

· Working with legal counsel and the TCC in the preparation of specific contracts for over-scale talent, celebrities, music rights, and maintaining up-to-date records for renewals of options and additional payments

· Conducting sessions for clients and/or interoffice personnel to keep them advised of talent payment and management, use of performers, Union Codes

· Prepare annual Talent Paymaster market analysis


About you:

  • Articulate and engaging in writing and presentation style
  • Five or more years of related work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Experience with primary pay master systems: Extreme Reach, Teams Co, Highland
  • At least three to four years paying talent in all phases
  • Knowledge of production and business operations
  • Advertising agency experience
