Job Description
Reporting to the GSI Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position is responsible for fostering the IT partnership across the GSI strategic business units. This position provides technical leadership and relationship management to enable IT business solutions in line with strategic objectives.


Responsible to facilitate business opportunities through the use of appropriate technologies, and enhance the application landscape to align technology and analytics with the overall operating vision. Ensure all Application Development and IT Governance functions are aligned with Regional and Global IT standards and practices.


The position is responsible for leading and influencing the development, architecture, and quality assurance strategies across the Global Specialty P&C business - supporting the service, growth, and future technology of the GSI Organization. This position will collaborate with the business executive team to get clarity on business strategy in order to help drive the execution of major initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Provides leadership by managing and allocating resources for the Munich Re Business Solutions team in the GSI organization.
  • Works closely with regional and global IT towers of Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure to ensure standardized tooling and processes are utilized.
  • Collaborate across GSI IT teams of Solutions Architecture, Data and Project Management to enable effective software delivery for all GSI development needs.
  • Assists in assuring that Munich Re is in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Steer initiatives to harmonize and standardize the global IT Business Solutions model to ensure a consistent approach to software development, dev/ops and implementation.
  • Manages the sourcing activities for the designated area of software development including the review and development of RFP, RFQ and RFI packages.
  • Partner with product and platform leads across all Global entities to ensure there is buy-in and support for software designs and solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight into all major development projects within the entity. Ensure that the designs of application solutions are secure and will fit within the patterns set by Enterprise Architecture.
  • Applies performance management practices, including continuous conversations, and communicates performance to individuals to address issues. Actively identifies training opportunities to grow individual and team capabilities
  • Work closely with IT Security and Risk to ensure solutions implemented across the US are in security compliance.
  • Directly negotiate terms and conditions and pricing for final purchase agreements and contracts. Analyzes market trends and benchmarks for best practices and assists in driving cost management working with designated area to facilitate compliance with procurement rules and procedures.
  • Provides productivity and status reporting to management. Ensures all activities comply with corporate standards and controls.


Requirements


  • Outstanding leadership competency and at least 10 years of relevant professional management experience in IT or IT related area
  • Excellent understanding of primary and reinsurance
  • Experience and standing in managing diverse stakeholders
  • Analytical (proven problem solver) skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Technology, Engineering or similar qualification
  • Senior executive presence
  • Written and verbal communications skills to all levels of management
  • Experience in managing a diverse business portfolio in a global organization
