Surgical Technologist Jobs

A non-licensed employee possessing knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment utilized to support the delivery of high quality, cost-effective patient care. Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse at all times, an RN may serve as a scrub nurse, but are not permitted to function as circulating nurses in the operating room. Reports to DON or Administrator.

• Observes cost containment practices with effective utilization of time and materials
• Maintains and upgrades standards of performance and education
• Assists with moving patients to the recovery cart
• Checks outdates on instruments and supplies
• Instrument processing experience required
• Equipment / Supplies Demonstrates cognitive and technical skills in the assembly / use / operation / maintenance of equipment and supplies and is responsible and accountable
• Prepares instruments, equipment and supplies for sterilization
• Specialized training for Surgical Technologist preferred
• Demonstrates ability in the areas of scrubbing and assisting in Ophthalmology and Laser procedures.
• Maintains the sterile and non-sterile supplies, and instruments for the Surgery Center
• Orders supplies for the Surgery Center and/or prepares order list
• Practices medical/legal policies governing the Surgery Center at all times
• Processes contaminated instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Shares and performs assigned duties necessary for the Surgery Center operations
• Assures the proper handling of sterile items
• Assists other members of the team with terminal cleanup of room in readiness for the next patient
• Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of equipment, instruments and supplies
• Sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies in a manner appropriate for the item
• Ophthalmology experience preferred
• Understands the operation and handling of the equipment in the Central Supply
• Monitors and changes sterilization chemicals
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment for the patients
• Standards Demonstrates awareness, location, and working knowledge of Policies and Procedures of operation of the Surgery Center.
• Maintains instruments and supplies in an orderly fashion
• Prior experience (2 yrs) as a Surgical Technologist
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Maintains the records of sterilization for each sterilizer

This position is responsible for the timely and accurate posting of payments, denials and adjustments. Accurate review of explanation of benefits and detailed posting from insurance companies to patient accounts. Daily and monthly reconciliation of payment batches.

Core duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

• Ability to strive in a fast-paced environment
• Post all patient payments to patient accounts
• Partner with finance team to research unidentified payments and/or recoupments to determine appropriate resolution
• Maintains or exceeds established productivity goals and quality standards
• 3+ years of experience in payment posting and/or medical billing
• Time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Locate and export all 835 electronic payment files in preparation of posting
• Post approved refund transactions timely and accurately
• Update and maintain all logs and spreadsheets used for reconciliation
• Comprehensive knowledge of insurance coverage
• Post all insurance payments, manual and electronic to patient accounts
• Identify credit balances at time of posting and submit refund request for approval
• Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Post all non-EDI payments, contractual allowances, rejection codes, deductibles, and co-payments
