Job Summary


The Supply Chain Manager will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Takes the lead for supply chain-related functions as part of a project team implementing SAP ERP software during fiscal year 2023.
  • Directs materials planning for made & purchased items based on production demand. Includes use of MRP, as well as determination of appropriate target stock levels, where necessary, based on historical consumption or usage forecasts.
  • Supports on-going implementation of point-of-use material stock across facility, including visual replenishment triggers back to main stockroom.
  • Directs the raising of production work orders as required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
  • Leads a strategic sourcing approach that identifies cost savings through implementation of enhanced buying strategies or outsourcing of key sub-assembly builds
  • Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
  • Directs inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage, including warehouse layout & organization.
  • Performs analysis and write-offs on damaged, slow-moving or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.
  • Maintains inventory levels to support production & customer requirement dates, including regular review of target stock levels.
  • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
  • Oversees the preparation and processing of purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment with delivery schedules aligned to production requirements
  • Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.

  • Cooperate with interfacing departments to resolve any issues that may affect the performance of manufacturing operations.

Essential


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT


  • Five years of experience in materials management or supply chain field required.
  • Experience using MRP system.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.


Desirable


  • Experience using SAP
  • Experience implementing Kanban or similar “pull” system to trigger materials internal to a manufacturing operation, as well as with external suppliers
  • Experience with implementing a new ERP system
  • Good understanding and experience deploying lean manufacturing principles

Travel Required
