Supplier Quality Engineer

Columbia, SC

We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer. This role will report to the Director of Quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Track supplier quality performance indicators and drive improvement as needed
  • Lead the supplier development process for new and performance-challenged suppliers
  • Act as a professional liaison between suppliers, and customers to optimize quality, delivery, and cost for assigned parts and products.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and on-site audits and facilitate action item closure
  • Drive resolution of technical and logistical supplier issues
  • Communicate and facilitate a Zero Defect Quality mindset
  • Facilitate effective communication between suppliers, and customers to optimize relationships
  • Assist suppliers in driving product and process improvements
  • Lead technical problem-solving and drive compliance to standards and deliverables across the assigned supply base
  • Develop and deploy optimal supplier quality control strategies (internal and external)
  • Drive financial analysis and recovery attainment for supplier issues
  • Ensure compliance with all IATF 16949 requirements and particularly those that are customer specific
  • Ensure supplier quality-related deliverables are achieved on time (including PPAP requirements)

Qualifications:

  • AIAG Core tools knowledge and application experience are required.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and Minitab is required.
  • Six Sigma BB certification (or equivalent) desired.
  • At least five years of automotive industry manufacturing experience is required.
  • BS in Engineering required.
  • Self-directed, demonstrated proactive initiative and dependable follow-up through closure.
  • IATF 16949 certification requirements knowledge required.
