Job Description

Job Summary


Supervises and directs patient care and related activities and provides clinical support to Urgent Care. Provides direct patient care within the scope of their license. Coordinates staffing of the Urgent Care, acts as liaison between patient units and other departments, and maintains a positive work environment that promotes SPMC values. Works collaboratively with the Medical Director and Clinic Manager to coordinate activities to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives.


Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities


  • Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Essential Job Function
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Serves as a liaison across disciplines. Acts as a liaison between departments. Participates as an active member of committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains high visibility by making administrative and environmental rounds on the assigned shift. Demonstrates an attitude of cooperation and professionalism and fosters harmonious relationships between staff and providers to ensure patient care and customer service standards are met.
  • Maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory changes, compliance issues, innovations and developments, through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Stays abreast of trends and best practices.
  • Maintains a safe environment; ensures equipment problems or failures are addressed promptly. Coordinates the hospital response to internal and external disasters to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Effectively identifies predictable problems, evaluates all available options and makes appropriate recommendations. Maintains accurate and timely written documentation.
  • Ensures staffing is adequate for provision of quality patient care. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency. Providers direct patient care in the clinic during critical staffing shortages.
  • Serves as a professional resource to patients, families, providers, and staff. Assists with prioritizing and resolving concerns and interpreting and enforcing hospital policies and standards, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Supervises nursing and support staff working in the Urgent Care Clinic. Responsible for coordinating and ensuring successful orientation of new staff. Completes administration duties such as supply requisitions, timecard approval, evaluations, and scheduling.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of nursing protocols, standards of care, and related competency requirements. Assists with staff meetings.

Organizational Responsibilities


In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, leaders are expected to support and uphold the Summit Pacific mission, vision and values; comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner.


Required Education And Experience


  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or
  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistance Certificate Program
  • Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate Program or


Required Licenses, Certifications And/or Registrations


  • Current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Washington or
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse in the State of Washington or
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current and unrestricted Medical Assistant in the State of Washington and


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment.
  • Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, patients and community members. Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of hospital administration, nursing services, customer relations, and plant operations.
  • Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, systems-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of nursing theories and practices. Demonstrated competence in clinical skills such that he/she is able to perform, evaluate and teach required nursing tasks.


The pay range for this position is $78,907 - $110,125 annually, depending on experience
