Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking experienced Postpartum RNs for our Birth Center, located on the Virginia Mason Seattle campus, who are interested in cross-training to the Special Care Nursery. Located on the 16th floor, the facility offers panoramic views of the city, the mountains and Puget Sound. The Birth Center includes:
  • 10 post-partum beds; 5 L&D rooms; 2 OB triage rooms, 2 ORs, and 3 Level II Nursery Beds. This department will has a unique design that allows some Level II SCN neonates to be cared for in the postpartum room with their parents.
In this position you will be responsible for serving as the primary RN delivering care to women and their newborns. This patient population may include low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
  • Perform Newborn and Maternal Assessments.
  • Stabilize and transport critically ill neonates.
  • Develop care plans and cares for the normal term newborn and medically fragile neonate.
  • Work with APPs to identify neonates at risk for complications and provide appropriate care.
  • Provide care to Low and High-Risk postpartum patient.

Qualifications

We require:
  • Must be willing to float between Special Care Nursery and Postpartum.
  • At least 6 months experience working in a Special Care Nurser and Postpartum environment.
  • CPR certification required every two years or as specified by the work.
  • National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification Mother/Baby Unit (MBU) or, National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification high or low risk NICU preferred
  • A current and valid Washington State Registered Nurse License.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification completion within 3 months of date of hire
