56,991.36 per year


Maximum salary


58,131.12 per year


Salary:\$2,374.64 - \$2,422.13 semi-monthly *Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience


Job Location:This position is with Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, and will be located at Finger Lakes State Park, 1505 E. Peabody Road, Columbia, MO. On-site housing is not available at this location.

What you\'ll do:


  • This position is responsible for the administrative and supervisory oversight of Finger Lakes State Park; including oversight of daily operations of campground, day use areas, park office, budgeting, directing maintenance priorities, meeting operational standards, staff work schedules, and direct supervision.
  • Research, collect, organize, draft data for fiscal, statistical, and operational reports.
  • Greet the public and discuss the facility\'s resources, rules, and regulations relating to the state park and historic site system.
  • Position must be available to work on weekends and evenings, in order to respond to incidents and to visitors needs at the park (which is open on weekends year round).
  • Develop, schedule, and participate in special events, interpretive programs, and informational public meetings.
  • Supervise permanent, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer employees at Finger Lakes State Park in the protection, maintenance, operation, and repair of state parks/historic sites, natural and cultural resources, facilities, equipment, and systems. Skill in managing and collaborating with staff.
  • Must be able to exercise a high degree of initiate and independent judgment in planning and implementing the work.
  • Establish a functional, proactive, working relationship with the media, local governments, local constituency groups and other stake holders.
  • Assist in implementing state park or historic site development projects, which include expansions, new construction, renovations, and maintenance.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, disturbances, natural disasters, and any other significant events within the park.


Minimum Qualifications


All you need for success:


  • Substitutions for additional education or experience may be allowed.
  • AND five or more years ofmanagement, supervision and participation in interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance and enhancement of state parks and historic sites.
  • Bachelors degree froman accredited college or university can include: Park Management, Parks and Recreation, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Botany, Biology, Natural Sciences, Business of Public Administration or related field.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
  • Skill in providing information and guidance to park/historic site visitors and staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and with written correspondence.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operators license.
  • Ability to walk long distances on uneven terrain in all kinds of weather and environmental conditions, climb stairs, and have the ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Available to work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
