Summary
The primary responsibility of the Summer Camp Teacher is to provide care for children in a child-initiated, play-based, nature-based, learning environment also known as our Outdoor Classroom. The lead Summer Camp teacher plans and facilitates developmental activities as part of a comprehensive program for children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth, so children can reach their highest potential.

We support UHP teachers with additional planning time outside of the classroom, and work with staff to determine where this fits in your schedule.
Compensation:
Pay range is $14 ? 18 per hour depending on experience. Through CCC (Child Care Counts) funding, part-time teachers receive an additional $250/month.

Requirements
The person selected for this position must possess the educational qualifications and must meet the requirements including a criminal background check of a lead teacher as outlined by Wisconsin Administrative Code, DCF 251, Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
Teaching experience in a City of Madison accredited play-based developmentally appropriate preschool program is desired. This person must have a warm, friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill job responsibilities in accordance with UHP program philosophy. This person must be able to maintain a professional attitude towards the children, the families, parent helpers, and co-workers at all times, be able to work with their co-teacher in cooperation with the Director and/or Administrator, other teachers, members of the UHP Board, and all families of the school to provide a stimulating and safe environment for the children, and provide leadership within a team-teaching model. This person must be able to lift 2 -7 year old children if needed up to 50 pounds.

INSERVICE:
Within the salary as specified in this agreement, is included the following paid in-service time:
1. Thirteen and a half (13.5) hours of staff meeting time
2. Two (2) days (3.5 hours/day) for teacher to attend state and regional conferences as described on attached benefits.
3. Each semester, one 2-hour planning/in-service to be held during set-up/close-down weeks.
Insurance/Retirement Benefits: Each employee will receive $50 per month to put toward their own insurance and/or retirement account.

- Summer Camp 8:15am ? Noon 4 days MTWR (16 hours/week) June 5-29, 2023 and July 10-27, 2023.

- Provide care and protection for assigned group of children, ensuring that children are always supervised, health and safety procedures are followed, and appropriate staff/child ratios are maintained.
- Plan summer camp curriculum that is appropriate for the ages and developmental levels consistent with UHP philosophy and goals.
- Treat all children with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences by:
- Providing an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each child.
- Nurturing each child's growing independence and self-identity.
- Showing as much individual attention as possible to each child.
- Interact with children in all areas of the program and encourage children to develop positive social relationships with each other.
- Providing a curriculum that helps each child develop to their fullest potential in each area of development.
- Giving positive feedback whenever possible.
- Recognize and respect the multicultural diversity of UHP's population by:
- Being sensitive and open to learning about the individual cultures represented in the school.
- Practicing excellent communication skills and utilizing different strategies to communicate with ESL children and parents, e.g., rephrasing confusing statements, writing notes, talking with both parents, asking another parent to translate, etc.
- Providing ways for families to share aspects of their culture in the program.
- Seeking out books, learning materials, and activities to use in the program that depict children and families from many cultures, races, family groupings, etc.
- Arrange field trips with Director's assistance.
- Assist in UHP?s compliance with all regulatory requirements including licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Be available to talk to parents about their children on an ongoing basis during drop-off and pick-up.
- Perform other duties relevant to the needs of the program, as determined cooperatively by the UHP Staff, UHP Board, and Director.

Part-time employees receive an additional $250 per month due to the Child Care Counts Grant.
PAID HOLIDAYS
Paid vacation days for teacher shall include the following:Martin Luther King Day
SICK DAYS
Teacher shall be allowed without deduction in the agreed fee, 12 sick days (i.e. half-days for half-time teachers), per this academic year period. After the first year, unused sick days may be accumulated from year to year, up to a maximum of twenty days (20).BONUS
If enrollment is at maximum teacher will be paid a bonus at the end of the fall and the spring semesters.INSERVICE:

CONTNUING EDUCATION
UHP will pay up to a maximum of half of $100.00 a year per staff member, toward teacher's continuing professional education as approved by the Board of Directors.INSURANCE/RETIREMENT

CHILDCARE BENEFIT
