Applications are being accepted at Albany Medical Center for a Summer 2023 special program for Nursing students who have completed at least one semester nursing.
This 11 week full time program includes clinical tasks of a Patient Care Technician, arranged RN shadow opportunities., hearing from experienced RNs, nursing skills practice and exploration of all that the profession of nursing has to offer!
This opportunity is open to all nursing students with the option to remain on staff during the remainder of the summer and through the school year part time.! Preference will be given to BSN students but all nursing students who have completed 1 year are welcome to apply. Those who successfully complete the program will be given preferential consideration to apply for full time employment as an RN post-graduation.

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) -Nursing (NUR) will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse. During the assigned work period, PCT-NURs will collect patient data, complete personal care of the patient, perform point of care testing such as whole blood glucose, turn & position and/or mobilize patients, and assist with caring for the needs of assigned patients with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The PCT-NUR promotes the availability of resources for patient care for use, stocking, and storage of supplies.
The Patient Care Technician- Nursing participates in the creation and maintenance of a clean, orderly, and safe environment of care. PCT-NURs may also be asked to provide assistance with patients requiring 1:1 observation.
