Summer Intern - Front-End Web Development

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is a fast-paced, dynamic life-science research company located in Tustin, CA. We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate team player on the path to becoming a great web developer to join our Full-Time Summer Internship Program.

Web Developers are responsible for building, expanding, and maintaining the company’s e-commerce website. As part of the Web Technology team, you will leverage your skills and familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build landing pages for our business units. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the web development field.

The internship will involve challenging opportunities, real world projects, and regular interaction with staff. At the completion of the program, you will:

• Learn how the Web Technology Team builds new landing pages from design mocks provided by the Graphic Design team.
• Learn how the Web Technology Team communicates across departments to ensure project goals and objectives are aligned.
• Learn the web development process and workflow in a biotech industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in an AGILE web development process.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop custom Landing Pages.
• Implement responsive web design in a Shopify theme.
• Update and edit website content, posts, and pages.

Education and Work Experience:

• The ability to troubleshoot, have strong problem-solving skills, and work well within a team.
• Completed or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline/equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills:

• A passion for high quality UX and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Experience of responsive web design and front-end best practices
• Experience with Front-End Technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap
• Experience of code versioning tools, such as GitHub

Compensation:

The estimated hourly range for this position is $20/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
