Job Description

Support the school community in creating and maintaining a healthy and safe school culture and learning environment that demonstrates respect for all members of the community. Support teachers, instructional aides, additional adult support staff, and school site principals in implementing positive behavioral systems and follow-through, including documentation and communication between the yard and the classrooms. Oversee instructional aides and support staff, including establishing yard coverage schedules and providing training and ongoing professional development to all support personnel. Plan and support emergency drills, information systems, and backpacks.


Essential Functions:

  • Encourage students to take responsibility in helping keep their campus clean.
  • Effectively implement Larchmont’s rules and expectations specifically on, but not limited to, the playground. This includes modeling & and communicating expectations with students and directly coaching support staff in conflict resolution. Use the natural problems that arise in school as opportunities to teach problem-solving skills.
  • Highlight the SEL curriculum during Friday Sings and other school gatherings.
  • Introduce all support staff and students to vocabulary, concepts, materials, and experiences that align with the social emotional, and academic philosophy of Larchmont Charter School.
  • Help to maintain a classroom and outdoor atmosphere that is safe, accepting, positive, and interactive.
  • Prioritize the students’ safety and well-being at all times on the playground, picnic tables, and in the classrooms.
  • Plan and lead weekly meetings for Instructional Aides and additional adult supports, bringing together the Gen Ed and SPED staff who serve children.
  • Manage and oversee support staff throughout morning and lunch supervision.
  • Check-in regularly with teachers and school site principals and share your professional perspective through respectful, open, and thoughtful dialogue.
  • Under the supervision of the principal, communicate professionally and accurately with parents
  • Build personal relationships with all students and staff members that demonstrate respect and compassion.
  • Coordinate Cool Tools curriculum school-wide, ensuring teachers have the resources they need to teach the socioemotional curriculum and to continue evaluating and growing an Anti-Bias, Anti-Racist pedagogy.


Minimum Qualifications:

(*) Bachelor's Degree

(*) Familiarity working with students at the TK-4th grade level

(*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance

(*) An enthusiasm to support a growing school program and the mission of the school.
