Job Description

FTE Direct Hire Opportunity- Hiring Immediately!

Location: Astoria, NY 11103

Salary: $23/- to $26/- per hour


The primary role entails ensuring surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and stored appropriately. Additionally, the individual is responsible for assisting the operating room staff in the turnover process between procedures. Any additional assigned tasks will also be performed.


Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization methods for instruments and supplies, including packaging, monitoring systems, and the use of ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves, and STERRAD.
  2. Assists the staff in preparing the operating room by unpacking supplies and instruments.
  3. Safely breaks down the sterile field and transports instruments to the decontamination room.
  4. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and supplies to maintain an adequate daily supply.
  5. Performs regular tests on autoclaves and STERRAD, maintaining accurate result logs.
  6. Inspects instruments to identify any that require repair or replacement, promptly reporting any damages to the lead technician or manager.
  7. Promotes teamwork and maintains professional communication with patients, physicians, co-workers, and management.
  8. Utilizes the communication book as necessary.
  9. Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
  10. Performs additional assigned duties as required.
