Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians.
The Sterile Processing Technician Transition Program is a 6-month program that includes course work and hands-on training based on the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) modules. At the end of the program, the trainee will be ready to take the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam. Positions at the end of the program will be full-time positions within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD).
A Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for sterilizing instrumentation and equipment through a series of critical steps. This work ensures that patients avoid infections and that doctors, nurses and allied health professionals can access the instrumentation and equipment they need immediately.
Responsibilities of a Sterile Processing Technician at Scripps include:
- Cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used for patient care
- Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis
- Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards
- Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed.
Must be available to complete entire program - class attendance is mandatory.
- New hires/rehires must be able to start on 8/14/2023

Interviews: An invitation will be sent to qualified candidates to complete and submit an on-demand video interview which will be viewed by the hiring manager. The on-demand video invitation link expires after 72 hours. The hiring manager will then select candidates for a live virtual interview between 5/30/2023 - 6/23/2023.
NOTE: There is no PTO allowed during the program.
