JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to activities related to maintenance, repair and modification of equipment controls / communications, electrical / electronic systems, or mechanical devices and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

Experience : Minimum two years work experience in working with boilers and operation of boilers.

Specialized Training : N/A

Licensure: L. A. City 500 H.P. License

Software: N/A

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains clean equipment rooms. Performs monthly tests on all emergency equipment including switch gear. Checks equipment while in operation and performs minor repairs, replaces worn or defective parts. Performs regular inspections tour of Physical Plant to assure the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Observes and controls the demands on equipment by adjusting valves and other controls.

Satisfies all criteria of standards as set forth by Sec. VII of the A.S.M.E. Power Boiler Code and equipment governed by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors. Runs water analysis daily, boilers are checked and logged hourly, they are treated and blown down 2 times per day. Rounds are conducted and logged 2 times per day. Conduct weekly tours of specific areas of the hospital, allowing for the hospital to be covered in its entirety on a monthly basis.

Uses PM sheets to ensure each piece of equipment is serviced according to manufacturers’ requirements on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual schedule. Maintains all plant equipment in good working order. Report any discrepancy to supervisor. Keeps central plant area clean daily. Dusts down equipment monthly. Touch-up paint after repair. Completes work orders in a timely manner. Relays telephone messages, and performs duties assigned.

Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and hospital data.

Documents clearly, legibly and accurately in accordance with Hospital policy.

Follows HIPAA regulations regarding the protection of patient information.

Attends frequent training education programs to maintain or enhance skills and knowledge appropriate for the job. Completes required training. Is current on all position required licenses, certification and education (i.e. License, BCLS, ACLS, LA Fire Card, AB508, Annual Mandatory Education). Retains and enhances competencies. Produces a significant volume of work efficiently and in a cost effective manner. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows safety practices. Understands the importance of safety in the workplace. Maintains a safe work environment for self and others.

Communication, Departmental and Interdepartmental

Communicates to department and Chief Engineer if additional equipment, materials or resources are needed to complete the job.

Participation in Departmental Operations

Maintains and participates in Performance Improvement activities within the department. Performs regular inspection tour of Physical Plant to assure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Actively Participates in Environment of Care/ Safety Program

Maintains working area and equipment in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.

Reports safety concerns or occurrences of unsafe conditions or practices through the appropriate channels.

Salary Range: $41.62 - $49.51 per hour
