The staff accountant will be responsible for various aspects of month-end close process. The role will be responsible for recording transactions, performing reconciliations, and performing analyses of the balance sheet and P&L. The staff accountant will report to the Controller and/or Manager. The role will have significant cross-functional interaction with Client Finance, Media AP, sister agencies, centralized functions and Corporate.
Responsibilities:
- Accumulate and review/analyze the monthly balance sheet and financial results. Prepare variance analysis against comparative periods
- Recording of day-to-day transactions
- Balance sheet reconciliations of full balance sheet, including cash, fixed assets, prepaids, subledger to GL recs, accruals and various other assets and liabilities
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audit
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time-management skills, and ability to adhere to tight deadlines during the month-end close process
- Excel proficiency and ability to handle large volume of data
- Previous experience working on GL systems; ability to perform GL queries/GL research
- Previous experience with preparing journal entries and reconciliations
In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in New York City for this role is $40K -$70K. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
