Staff Accountant

***This is a hybrid role sitting in our Memphis, TN location requiring at least 2 days onsite each week***

This is your chance to be part of a Finance Team that is a critical business partner that manages all global activities related to financial performance, accounting, tax, forecasting, risk management, and asset management. As a Staff Accountant on the RTR US Hotel Accounting team reporting to Kathy Van Dyke, you will focus on completing monthly closing and post-closing activities.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What your day-to-day will be like:

  • Partner with third-party service providers to ensure all vital information is captured, compiled, reviewed, and approved. Examples of third parties include but are not limited to outsourcing providers and auditors
  • Attend staff meetings pertinent to work assignments.
  • Research and respond to information requests from internal departments and management
  • Perform end-of-month closing and post-closing activities such as assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, wire transfers, and compiling data and supporting documentation for journal entries.

How you will collaborate with others:

  • Develop positive and cross-collaborative relationships with finance and corporate departments
  • Collaborate with your manager to establish specific goals and plans to prioritize, coordinate and accomplish project and department goals

What projects you will take ownership of:

  • On a rotating basis, will work across teams to facilitate wire transfer requests from the Hotel Accounting team to the treasury team.
  • Assist with accounting tasks while gaining an understanding of processes to further your knowledge and move up in the organization.

WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT

You have these minimum qualifications:

  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including understanding and manipulating spreadsheets.
  • Have the foundational knowledge of business mathematics, including calculating percentage changes and averages/weighted averages.
  • One (1) year of experience or internship in a corporate or business environment

It would be useful if you have:

  • One (1) year of relevant analytical work experience
  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree
