We are currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant who is responsible for performing various accounting and financial functions such as credit assessment, accounts receivable/payable, financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, interpretation of accounting standards, internal controls, and month-end closing.This position reports to the Controller in our Columbus office. The position is remote hybrid with the expectation of being 80% remote and 20% in the Columbus office.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares and files state and local sales tax returns
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Performs credit assessment of new customers and updates to credit limits
- Assists with accounts payable, including ensuring proper account allocations
- Assists with information collection for all types of audits
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
- Monitors corporate credit card expenses for reasonability & proper documentation
- Assists with projects and other duties as required by management
- Evaluates budget variances and reviews with business departments
- Assists with the preparation of annual budget and other forecasts
- Manages Accounts Receivable, including cash application and communicating with customers and sales management about past due accounts
- Maintains and balances accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
- Summarizes financial status by collecting information, preparing financial statements, and creating reports
- Monitors and reports AR aging on a regular basis
- Analyzes sales and margin information and assists sales team in researching questions
- Interprets GAAP and related accounting policies and procedures
- Assists with annual physical inventory counts
Previous Work & Educational Requirements:
- Proficiency with MS Office products required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of ERP systems w/NetSuite experience is a plus
- Collaborative team player mindset with the ability to work in a matrix organization
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Minimum 0-2 years of relevant work experience
