Staff Accountant

Sarasota

$60,000 - $65,000 DOE + Excellent benefits as below

Non-profit accounting experience and FASB accounting principles essential



This position reports to the director of Finance and is an integral part of the finance team with a variety of responsibilities. This position is primary lead on special projects, accounting for the Non-profit Foundation and as fiscal agent for an outside organization.


Special projects will include project analysis, grant compliance and billings, research processes, procedures and more. Responsible for maintaining and performing various accounting and financial functions that ensure the project(s) and organization’s accounting records are accurate and complete.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:


• Responsible for documentation, processing and posting contributions to appropriate accounts and company. Work with Advancement team to accurately record contributions and conduct reconcile monthly.

• Maintain accounting and investment records to produce timely and accurate month end reporting and draft financial statements.

• Maintain accounting and grant records effectively to produce timely and accurate month end reporting and draft financial statements.

• Responsible for in-depth knowledge, reporting requirements and submission of reimbursable invoices for assigned government grants.

• Prepare month-end reconciliations for all companies.

• Lead accountant and contact for applicable audits.

• Function as backup for accounting functions as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


• This position is full time.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.

• Non-profit accounting experience and knowledge of FASB accounting principles essential.

• Must be able to work independently and utilize experience and other resources to develop efficient work process solutions.

• Grant compliance and reimbursement billing experience preferred.

• Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day responsibilities.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a collaborative work environment. Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized with the ability to prioritize workload.

• Experience with payroll processing and basic human resource functions preferred.

• Experience with Excel, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct accounting software, Paycom, Donor Perfect and Adobe preferred.

Physical Requirements –

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as grant rules and guidance; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

• The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle.
