Job Description

Earn $47,476 annually, plus 3 weeks paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick time, paid personal time, 401k and medical package.
Under the supervision of the Financial Reporting Accountant, this position maintains and administers the monthly general ledger and assists in the preparation of financial statements. Analyzes and prepares reconciliations for various general ledger account balances. Assists the supervisor in preparing for Board Meetings, audits, budgets, period end reports and other projects as needed.

Functions
  • Assists external auditors as needed
  • Processes data and prepared schedules for audits
  • Collects and analyzes financial data, ensuring that all reporting is in compliance with GAAP reporting guidelines
  • Prepares financial statements for internal and external users
  • Prepares all annual and quarterly reports to include CFR, SSOP and reports to OPwDD and Mental Health
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Acts as back-up for Accounts Receivable
  • Researches accounting rules and regulations and makes recommendations regarding company policy
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Provides technical assistance to program managers in the monitoring of site specific budgets
  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assists in budget preparation
  • Creates journal entries to balance accounts and bank reconciliations
Required Experience
  • 1 to 3 years experience performing accounting related functions such as general ledger maintenance and complete month end close strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel to all agency locations as required
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting and government reporting forms strongly preferred
  • Valid NYS Drivers License required
  • Understanding of accounting concepts such as prepaid, accruals and deferrals
  • Associate degree in Accounting required
  • Understanding of nonprofit allocation methods and administrative allocations
