This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

You will work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality to continue optimizing materials and processes while providing on-going support to existing configurations on the production floor. You will support activities such as parameter development, material/process selection, drawing reviews, manage qualification test campaigns, interact/audit external vendors, etc. This position reports through the Rapid Development and Manufacturing team allowing for the opportunity to gain and share experiences across many diverse projects.
We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Qualifications:
  • Experience with at least one of the following processes: Laser welding, GTAW, Tip Tig, GMAW, or SMAW
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with a diversity of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • B.S. degree or higher in welding engineering, materials engineering, or related field with 10+ years of directly related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of welding processes across a variety of materials at both cryogenic and elevated temperature ranges
  • Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Desired:
  • Experience working with carbon and stainless steels, Ni-based Alloys, and/or other aerospace materials
  • Experience working to codes and standards (AWS D17.1, ASME BPVC Section IX, B31.3, AWS D1.1, D1.6, etc.)
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing processes, (i.e., castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, working with large assemblies, etc.)
  • Experience supporting design and manufacturing teams in an aerospace environment, including preparing specifications, test reports, and design substantiation documentation
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification. At Blue Origin, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
