The Cybersecurity PM/Scrum Master will ensure that the team and associated scrum masters, are actively following the guidelines of Scrum and Agile to achieve business objectives within Information Technology Services and lead organizational change management (OCM) activities for Solar Cybersecurity projects through well-developed communication plan, transition plan, management updates and awareness campaigns.
Dimensions

  • Understand and adhere to ITS and corporate governance processes.
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to refinement and maintaining the product backlog and prioritization.

Nature and Scope
  • Efforts may typically include coordinating, integrating, and working with project teams outside information technology groups
  • Implementation is accomplished through multiple small-large cross-functional teams, which are not direct reports and are shared resources
  • This position reports to a manager and has dotted line reporting to agile centers of excellence
  • Work can be conducted in person or remote fashion based on the requirement of the sponsors
  • The incumbent will spend lead agile programs and project activities with minimal direction or supervision.
  • This position provides agile leadership and oversight for low to moderate-complexity products/efforts/delivery teams, which provide solutions to a narrow range of products/solutions in focused business areas.
  • The focus is on delivering Information Technology solutions to internal business groups involving new or improved practices, procedures, techniques, or systems.
  • Incumbent exercises superior judgment in accordance with department policies, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Excellent influencing skills are leveraged, combined with the ability to execute
  • Customers vary based on services or products
  • Activities will be managed in Azure DevOps or another agile tooling
  • Work is reviewed by product owners and supervisors
  • Teams will be comprised of individuals from multiple departments and typically single business units and geographical locations
Principal Accountabilities
  • Prepare, present and review provided features and capabilities regularly with product owners and stakeholders
  • Mentor other team members and scrum masters in the agile methodology
  • Work closely with functional product, program, and project team members to fully understand and manage program and project inter-dependencies.
  • Shield teams from outside distraction/interference
  • Identify, escalate, and assist in the resolution of resource constraints, conflicts, and impediments
  • Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders to meet project deliverables and benefit case
  • Help a team/individual/product owners/Scrum Masters clarify goals and actions to achieve them
  • Create an appropriate support model that addresses the support need of the product/solution
  • Collaborate with Technical and Solution Architects and SMEs to define program and project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Ensure product/solution alignment with enterprise standards and processes
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure that teams are consistently delivering the highest value for feature level/product increments
  • Manage scope, communicating risks to scope, sprint timeline, budget, and resolve issues
  • Ensure team is incorporating feedback from customers, end-users, and key stakeholders to increase value for our customers continually
  • Track and remove impediments with little to no assistance
  • Lead the team ceremonies: Scrum sprint planning, refinement, sprint demos, and retrospective
  • Interpret & communicate business requirements to develop a comprehensive product backlog to reduce risk and enhance quality and delivery of prioritized features/capabilities
  • Develop estimates, schedules, effort, and cost based on best practices and experience and provide continual improvement guidance
  • Create an environment of accountability within the delivery team
  • Identify capacity related risks, recommend potential mitigation, and escalate appropriately, and remediate
  • Update technical and job knowledge by learning from more senior-level scrum masters, self-education, read professional publications and participate in educational opportunities
  • Execute product delivery based on agile methodologies defined by the enterprise
  • Work with the Product Owner to document and make visible the product/solution scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Become highly proficient at using DevOps/Agile tooling and related tools
  • Dynamically facilitate team conflict resolution by focusing on scrum values of openness, honesty, and respect
  • Facilitate team to estimate and plan product/solution in a variety of tools with no supervision
  • Work with internal and external technology suppliers and product owners to ensure an accurate product/solution budget and manage to it
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive plan for products/solutions
Qualifications
Required:
  • 6+ year of IT experience or equivalent or 6+ years product/project management experience
  • Expertise implementing Agile estimation techniques
  • Experience working with 3+ teams simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of directly related experience
  • Skilled at fostering a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, where there is an emphasis on problem-solving
  • Ability to immerse oneself in an industrial software market and quickly add value to a project
  • Expertise in removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to aid in doing so
  • 5+ years of agile/scrum experience
  • Experience in all facets of the software development life cycle (requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, release cycle, support)
  • Self-starter, initiative, leadership, excellent judgment, excellent problem solving, excellent communication, and human relations skills
  • Expertise in guiding the team towards self-organization
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) (required)
  • Mastery of agile software development methodologies
  • Eight plus years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Experience in mentoring Scrum Masters in their community of practice
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications (MS Project, Outlook, Teams, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, etc.)
  • Experience working with Product Owners
  • Previous experience leading Information Technology programs and projects
  • The multi-disciplined individual with familiarity in a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to modern web development, content management systems, mobile application development, user experience, and responsive design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a highly collaborative fashion
  • Expertise in sprint and program increment planning that produce consistent metrics and frequent delivery of the working product
  • Excellent knowledge and demonstrated expertise in applying Agile best practices, Scrum ceremonies, and scaled Agile practices
  • Experience running the five Scrum ceremonies
  • Expertise with running story workshops that create product backlogs and story maps
  • The ability to facilitate cross-functional teams across the IT organization and related business groups
Extensive experience using Azure DevOps or similar applications
Preferred:
  • Strength in guiding teams towards self-organization
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on teams developing large, complex products solutions
  • Ability to immerse oneself in an industrial software market and quickly add value to a project
  • Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure (Network, Database, Server) technologies and concepts
  • Mastery of program management concepts and approaches
  • Knowledgeable of Cybersecurity trends and methodologies, understanding basic system security analysis techniques, testing, and documentation standard
  • Mastery of Office 365 applications (MS Project, Outlook, Teams, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, etc.)Previous experience leading Information Technology programs and projects
  • Certification(s) in SAFe, Scrum@Scale, and/or LeSS
  • Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP or PMI-ACP) or equivalent (recommended)

Note:
Must be willing to relocate to San Diego, CA. No relocation allowance offered. This role requires hire to be in office 1-3 days per week.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary for this role ranges from $115,627.00, to $173,441.00. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:

Summary Pay Range:
$115,627.00 - $208,128.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
