Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Electrification). The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Electrification) will support the mechanical design of Hybrid/Electric Inverter and Converter Systems for various global automotive customers, that enable BEV’s, PHEV’s, HEV’s, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in prototype and production manufacturing.
• Design mechanical components in compliance with design standards and customer specifications
• Follow a structured problem-solving approach to resolve issues.
• Lead mechanical design of Hybrid/Electric Inverter and Converter Systems, for both charging and driveline applications.
• Mentor new engineers within the team, provide technical guidance to team members as necessary.
• Routinely interface with customer’s engineering teams throughout design and validation.
• Perform mechanical analysis and verification, including; Thermal Management, Vibration Capability, Thermal Shock, Tolerance Stack
• Teardown and analyze validation test units and customer returns.
• Collaborate with suppliers and buyers to launch new products on time and on budget.
• Document design including engineering drawing checks and release.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor of Science degree, Mechanical discipline preferred.
• Mechanical Design/Analysis experience with automotive power electronics (or similar, Power Generation, High Power Aerospace, Off-Road, Recreational, etc.)
• 5+ years in Mechanical design experience, candidates with a Master’s Degree and 3+ years mechanical design experience will also be considered.
• Experience with design for environmental, packaging and durability requirements
• Experience with Siemens UG NX or similar CAD applications such as, Catia, Creo, Solidworks, Rhino, Etc.
• Experience with Ansys or other analysis tools (preferred), MATLAB, Solidworks, Nastran, etc.

Location

Indiana Technical Center with Locations in Noblesville & Kokomo, Indiana. This position’s primary location is Kokomo, IN. Hybrid work will be supported, after an introductory period on-site.
